Mississauga council approves 15-storey building in Port Credit<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Mississauga continues to be a hotspot for new developments, with council approving the construction of a 15-storey building in Port Credit. Located at the southwest corner of Ann Street and High Street, the 15-storey Nola building, to be developed by FRAM Building Group, will contain 69 units. The application also calls for two semi-detached homes to be constructed, fronting onto High Street and Ann Street. When complete, the development will offer easy access to the Port Credit GO station and will be walking distance from the city’s waterfront.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A public meeting was held in Sept. 2015, where a number of residents expressed concerns about the development, including increased traffic volume, shortage of parking and appropriateness of the use of space (some residents said office space would better serve the community). Staff determined the proposal was acceptable from a planning standpoint and recommended support of the application.<\/p>\n

Approved during the Feb. 22 council meeting, the city will receive $300,000 in section 37 community benefits. This figure was determined based on the increased value of the land as a result of the density increase, which was estimated to be $1.2 million. City staff has recommended the $300,000 be spent on upgrades to the Port Credit Cenotaph Park, Port Credit Memorial Park and\/or a statue commemorating Port Credit\u2019s link with the indigenous people in J.J. Plaus Park.<\/p>\n
